Why God Gave The Law (Galatians 3:19-21)

Pastor Dennis, July 23, 2017
Part of the Exposition of Galatians series, preached at a Sunday Evening service

The Galatian Christians were deceived by the false teachers (Judaizers) and thought they had to keep the law of Moses in addition to believing in Jesus. This message deals with Paul's letter to the Galatians, telling them the purpose of the law and temporary nature of the law and the critical truth that righteousness cannot be imparted by law - only by faith.

Galatians 3:19-21

19Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. 20Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. 21Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. (KJV)
